There’s just something about summertime in Rockwall. Maybe it’s the sunsets over Lake Ray Hubbard, the live music floating through The Harbor, or the way the entire community seems to gather outdoors the second school lets out. Whatever it is, summer here feels special.
If you’re looking for ways to soak up the season, here are some of the best things happening around Rockwall this summer!
Concert By The Lake at The Harbor
One of Rockwall’s most-loved summer traditions is the Concert By The Lake series at The Harbor. Every Thursday evening, families, friends, and neighbors gather by the water for free live music, dancing, and gorgeous sunset views.
From tribute bands to soul, country, pop, and even orchestra performances, there’s a little something for everyone. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket, grab dinner nearby, and enjoy one of the best atmospheres in town.
The concerts run from May through July and are held at the amphitheater overlooking Lake Ray Hubbard. Bring your family, a picnic basket, and a blanket to sit on and you’ll be ready to go!
Rockwall Farmers Market
Saturday mornings in downtown Rockwall are made for the farmers market. You’ll find fresh produce, homemade baked goods, local honey, coffee, flowers, handmade items, and live music all wrapped into one fun morning outing.
It’s one of the easiest ways to support local businesses while enjoying the charm of historic downtown Rockwall. Plus, it’s incredibly family-friendly and dog-friendly.
Pro tip: Go early before the Texas heat kicks in and while the best goodies are still available.
Fourth of July in Rockwall
As a matter of fact, if you’ve never experienced Independence Day in Rockwall, add it to your summer bucket list immediately.
Rockwall goes all out with:
- A patriotic parade
- Live music
- Food trucks
- Family activities
- One of the best fireworks shows around
The fireworks celebration at Harry Myers Park is always a huge community event, and honestly, it feels like something straight out of a small-town movie. Bring your lawn chairs, snacks, and patriotic spirit because this is one event you don’t want to miss.
Enjoy Lake Ray Hubbard
Summer and lake life simply go together in Rockwall.
Whether you’re boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, or just grabbing dinner with a waterfront view, Lake Ray Hubbard becomes the heart of summer activity around town.
One of my favorite things to do is simply walk around The Harbor in the evening. The sunsets are unreal, the breeze off the lake makes the Texas heat manageable, and there’s always something going on.
Patio Dining Season
Rockwall has some seriously underrated patio spots, and summer is the perfect excuse to try them all.
A few local favorites include:
- Lakeside restaurants at The Harbor
- Rooftop and patio dining in downtown Rockwall
- Family-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating
- Coffee shops perfect for slow summer mornings
Bonus points if you time dinner with sunset over the lake.
Splash Pads, Parks & Family Fun
For families with little ones, Rockwall has plenty of ways to burn energy this summer.
Harry Myers Park remains a favorite with:
- Walking trails
- Playgrounds
- Splash pad fun
- Open green space
- Sports fields and pickleball courts
There are also community events, movie nights, camps, and activities happening throughout the summer through the Parks & Recreation Department.
Downtown Rockwall Summer Nights
Downtown Rockwall feels especially charming in the summer. Boutique shopping, local restaurants, coffee shops, and evening strolls make for the perfect laid-back date night or girls’ night out.
You’ll often find pop-up events, seasonal specials, live music, and community gatherings happening throughout the summer months.
